The Corinth Canal is a canal that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, thus effectively making the former peninsula an island.

The canal elevated Piraeus’ status as a major Mediterranean port . A project that spanned many centuries, it was conceived by a ruler of Ancient Corinth, begun by Roman emperor Nero, and completed in the 19th century by the French. Cut through solid rock, the canal is more than 6km long and 23m wide, its vertical sides rising 90m above the water.

We stop at the Canal for 45 min. Near the canal there are options for refeshments ,snacks and public toilets.

Then we head to Ancient Corith, a very important city the ancient & roman times.

Renowned for its wealth and architecture, Corinth was the site of Greece’s final stand against Rome. After the defeat, the Romans levelled the city, then rebuilt it as a Roman settlement with theatres, a forum and imperial temples. Only the ancient Temple of Apollo was spared.

Corinth was home to the famous Jason of the Argonauts, stealer of the Golden Fleece, Pausanias, Roman traveller, and St Paul, who taught the gospel of Christ here.

Follow their footsteps & relive the past with our Virtual Reality application that you will use in the Arhaelogical Site while listening to the fascinating history with our Audioguide. The museum of the Site is also a must to visit.
